£100 Million Cloud IT Services Contract

cloud computing

There has been a steady move towards mobile working to increase efficiency, flexibility and access, whilst reducing costs. Cloud computing changes are making it easier than ever and Infiniti Cloud Solutions are at the forefront.

The recent announcement of a £100 cloud computing tender process by Norfolk County Council is a major indication of the public sector embracing the new technology. They have adopted cloud based Google apps in their education system that has 148,000 registered users.

By any stretch this is a massive contract. But they are being realistic as they are looking to a 5 year framework with the possibility of an extra 2 years. In addition it is to work with the councils IT department, not replace it.

This is a common sense and hard-nosed business approach, as there is no doubt that full outsourcing is a huge challenge that causes disruption for years and all too often fails to provide the service demanded.

The council recognises the widespread use of all mobile computing devices and is seeking a computing infrastructure that will work with desktops, laptops, tablets and mobiles.

Their education system has 148,000 users with both current and previous students and school staff. So it is essential that ease of access and safety are paramount. And of course collaborative working facilities are vital for staff.
